I was gonna try and work the phrase ‘papa got a brand new bag’ into the title but eh? I don’t think it would have worked too well. But I digress. Instagram, which had taken over the app world ever since 2010, has decided to get a lil’ work done. The result?
My first impression? It’s so vibrant. Like that vivid sunset hue you’d get at that time of day. Or if you get that similar looking glare reflecting off a shiny surface. Our Head of Design thinks the new logo and brand overhaul is pretty sweet.

Not one to waste too many words our Ryan. I’d like to add a little more to that. I noticed in the video (which I didn’t initially pick up on) is the fact that the logo et al, are softer in shape and appearance. Which works nicely I think, as well as the art direction of the video. It was snappy, colourful and had a bubbly-beat underneath as a backing track. Here’s another video boasting the new look, with its more community centric.
That second video is good, it even features Bassment Jaxx’s ‘Do Your Thing’. Which, funfact, I was listening literally seconds before playing that community video. Eerie. What do you think of the new logo? It’s nice and fresh, but personally I find it a little too vivid, but I’m sure it’ll grow on me though. They’re also updating other key Instagram logos such as You’ll also see updated icons for our other creative apps: Layout, Boomerang and Hyperlapse.
